Childhood asthma is a widespread chronic disease. Patients with a lower socio-economic status (SES) tend to have a higher prevalence of asthma. In addition, the course of asthma is significantly influenced by factors such as health literacy and children's specific knowledge about the disease. The primary aim of this study is to evaluate whether asthma education improves the specific understanding of the disease in children with asthma and to what extent the education has an impact on health literacy and the frequency of emergency department and doctor visits or whether the SES influences the effects of the education. The study protocol was published in 2024.
