Personality in Residence

Prof. Dr Tobias Esch stands in front of a programme poster

From 20 to 22 October, Prof. Dr Tobias Esch, neuroscientist, physician and happiness researcher, was a guest at the University of St.Gallen (HSG) as Personality in Residence. In lectures, workshops and dialogue formats, he invited students, staff and guests to reflect on central questions of life: What makes a fulfilled life? And how can inner stability be found even in times of uncertainty?

In his introduction to dyad practice, Esch explained how two people can experience genuine connection in a dialogue-based meditation - through attentive, non-judgemental listening and mutual presence.

In the lecture "What do you get up for in the morning?", Esch got to the bottom of life's big questions:

▪️ What connects happiness and health?
▪️ Is there a difference between happiness and contentment?
▪️ And how are both connected to our personal life path - and the world in which we live and work?

Tobias Esch showed how scientific findings from neurobiology can help us to understand questions about meaning, stability and well-being in a new way.
