Clinical competencies

  • Paediatrics and adolescent medicine:
    Care for all acute and chronic illnesses in children and adolescents in outpatient and inpatient settings. Special outpatient clinics in almost all paediatric sub-disciplines. Interdisciplinary care in the Westphalian Children's Centre together with paediatric surgery, paediatric ENT, paediatric anaesthesiology, paediatric radiology and all disciplines represented at the clinic. The clinic is "excellent.FOR CHILDREN"
  • Paediatric haematology and oncology:
    Certified paediatric oncology centre of the German Cancer Society. Participation in all co-operative clinical studies and registries in the field. Head of the register for rare tumour diseases in paediatrics. Expert in tumours of the gonads (testicles, ovaries). Holistic approach in paediatric oncology with a strong emphasis on psychosocial support for families through psycho-oncology, music, art and sports therapy as well as educational programmes.
  • Neonatology
    One of the largest perinatal centres in Germany with particular expertise in the care of extremely immature premature babies and newborns with congenital malformations. Strong emphasis on psychosocial support for young families through psychology, early care and transfer to social-medical aftercare. Participation in the German network for premature babies
  • Paediatric emergency medicine: 
    The paediatric clinic and its team staff the paediatric emergency ambulance and provide emergency care on site in more than 1200 missions every year
  • Neuropaediatrics and social paediatrics:
    Holistic care for children and adolescents suffering from or at risk of disabilities in an interdisciplinary and multi-professional setting on the ward, in the social paediatric centre and in the interdisciplinary early intervention centre attached to the children's centre
  • Child protection:
    Interdisciplinary and multi-professional child protection group for medical child protection care, in close cooperation with the youth welfare office and other youth welfare centres in Dortmund and the surrounding area
  • Specialised paediatric and adolescent medicine: Wide range of inpatient and outpatient services in almost all paediatric specialisations, e.g. paediatric cardiology, paediatric gastroenterology, paediatric pulmonology, paediatric diabetology and endocrinology, etc.
